What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Well it wasn't in a tub but our sensory activity this week was making our own cheese buns.
One of our daily routines is to stop at a local bakery and buy cheese buns for a snack.
It's a rainy day so we didn't go out for a walk and therefore missing our cheese buns.
I had some pretzel dough in the freezer which made it a quick activity to get going.
The girls loved poking and patting and the oldest little One enjoyed singing Pat-a-cake while they played.
A short time in the oven,
a little time to cool off
and we were ready to eat.

Book Play - Mrs Wishy Washy

Another of my favourite books and so much fun to reenact.
The girls had their own tubs and their own animals; a cow, duck and pig.
They also had blue tissue paper for pretend water and a scrub brush.
"Wishy washy, wishy washy"
The brown tissue paper on the floor is pretend mud.
After washing the animals they went back into the mud for it all to be repeated.
After they played with their animals for awhile they became the animals; a pig, duck and cow.
 I became Mrs Wishy Washy.
Each of them had a turn in the tub for me to wash them.
They then went back to the mud, stumping, rolling and flapping.
 Fun in the tubs!

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Worms in dirt!
I'm surprised that we do not see many worms when we are out on our walks.
I think there are many more birds here, then at my home, to take care of them.
So I brought in some fake worms.
The littlest ones weren't too sure at first and dropped it.
Then proceeded to check it out, wiggle it and flip it around.
 Even trying to stretch it.
I made up a song while they wiggled their worms.
No worms were hurt during this play time.

Bringing The Three Bears to Life

I brought my Goldilocks and The Three Bears story bag for the little ones to play with.
I moved their little table over with one of it's hard chairs, added a softer foot stool and a little wood stool for baby bears chair.
A big bowl, a medium bowl and a little bowl with spoons were set on the table.
Blankets were set around on the couch for the bears' beds.
Here is Goldilocks trying them out.
Each child picked a bear to play with.
C picked Momma Bear,
 M picked Pappa Bear,
and D chose the Baby Bear, although it looks like it is soon to be grabbed by one of her cousins.
The older one, who is familiar with the story, took Goldilocks through her paces.
While the younger ones played with all the props.
After playing for awhile I moved the table back to it's spot and we set up the bowls and bears.
And the play continues.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Tapioca beads are in the tub this week.
We played with them when they were dry and hard.
They make a great noise.
Then I added water.
We felt them and then let them sit over night.
The next morning we checked to see how they changed.
 They were now mushy.
The Little Ones weren't too keen to play with them.
Later that day most of the water was absorbed into the beads.
They were more inclined to explore if they used a cup and spoon.
Notice just one finger going in.
I thought they would grab it by the handful.
After scooping and then dumping you can see the look on her face tells how she feels.
"Yuck, what is this mess Nana gave me?"

I was hoping these would work more like edible water beads but they are not at all similar.
