We built a pendulum using PVC pipes.
We learned to set up blocks and other items to knock down.
We learned how to pull the pendulum back and let it go, or sometimes run with
it through the blocks.
Then we set up more blocks
and even more blocks
Then we knocked them down again.
This looks like a really wonderful science activity, since a pendulum is a simple machine! Did you place the little rugs on the sides to give the children a spot to stand on out of the way of the swinging ball? And what did you tie on to the string? Is that a bean bag?

The rugs are part of that play area and they were pushed apart for the pendulum so no real reason for them there. There is a hackie sac ball inside a sock hanging at the end of a rope, heavy but not too heavy. A bean bag would work too.
