A simple stand from IKEA and bowls of bells with strings attached

made for great eye hand coordination play.

So focused.

Look at how his fingers are holding the string.

Figuring how to open the string to be able to hang it.

Working with a big buddy

playing and sharing

builds a trusting relationship.

Ring the Bells

To me Christmas and bells go hand in hand.
We hear them at this time of year in songs, stories, churches, school
and around town.
 
I thought of buying the set of bells you can get from teacher supply stores
but, one, I didn’t have the extra money and two, I know they can be very noisy.

So off to the thrift stores and it didn’t take me long to find this collection
right here in town.
      
Each little bell makes a slightly different tone from the other.
   
Then there are different jingle bells, single, clusters, some with fabric
to change the tone.

I posted a few songs on the wall to encourage singing
but the interest lays in experimenting with each bell.

Sensory Christmas

The Christmas season is such a sensory season.

From smelling and tasting gingerbread to hearing bells.

We have been experiencing many sensory activities at StrongStart.

Here are a few.

Making gingerbread people for our castle.

Playing with 'ginger' dough.  (I added ginger spice to plain playdough).

Sprinkling ginger and cinnamon on paper cut outs.

A tub full of tinsel garland and bells.

And more bells.

 

Of course colours, they are all around.  Here we did spin art using old salad spinners.
