What's in the Tub Tuesday?

I made soap foam.
You start with a bar of soap, I used Ivory, and shred it in a jar.
Fill the jar with hot water and let the soap melt.
Seal the jar till you are ready to use it.
I added a few tablespoons to a big bowl with some water.
Using an electric hand mixer quickly foams it up nice and thick.
I added some blue food colouring.
Into the tub went a cow, a pig and a duck.
Time to be Mrs Wishy Washy again.
They were soon up to their elbows in suds.
Scooping and traveling with it
 over to the water table.
Where they washed it off in the water.
Learning a new word "bubbles".
A delight to say and hear.
They went back to clean up the foam as it was drying on the cement.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Well it wasn't in a tub but our sensory activity this week was making our own cheese buns.
One of our daily routines is to stop at a local bakery and buy cheese buns for a snack.
It's a rainy day so we didn't go out for a walk and therefore missing our cheese buns.
I had some pretzel dough in the freezer which made it a quick activity to get going.
The girls loved poking and patting and the oldest little One enjoyed singing Pat-a-cake while they played.
A short time in the oven,
a little time to cool off
and we were ready to eat.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Worms in dirt!
I'm surprised that we do not see many worms when we are out on our walks.
I think there are many more birds here, then at my home, to take care of them.
So I brought in some fake worms.
The littlest ones weren't too sure at first and dropped it.
Then proceeded to check it out, wiggle it and flip it around.
 Even trying to stretch it.
I made up a song while they wiggled their worms.
No worms were hurt during this play time.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Tapioca beads are in the tub this week.
We played with them when they were dry and hard.
They make a great noise.
Then I added water.
We felt them and then let them sit over night.
The next morning we checked to see how they changed.
 They were now mushy.
The Little Ones weren't too keen to play with them.
Later that day most of the water was absorbed into the beads.
They were more inclined to explore if they used a cup and spoon.
Notice just one finger going in.
I thought they would grab it by the handful.
After scooping and then dumping you can see the look on her face tells how she feels.
"Yuck, what is this mess Nana gave me?"

I was hoping these would work more like edible water beads but they are not at all similar.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Week 2 of our sticky wall and I added feathers to the tub.
The girls are becoming quite familiar with tub and are always eager to explore.
How do these things move if I pick them up and drop them.
That is Cs favourite thing to do with every tub.
They do eventually get around to sticking them to the wall.
Sometimes putting them and sometimes peeling them off.
That is one reason a sticky wall is great as it is always changing.
The girls started to explore the feathers a little closer.
Discovering how they feel.
That they tickle when rubbed on their nose or face.
They discovered that a feather is very light and they may not feel it on their head.
To finish our feather play off for the day we sang Two Little Dickie Birds.
What could we add to the sticky wall next week?
Any ideas?
