What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Plastic eggs.

Some match but most don't.

They are eggs that I have accumulated over the years.

The large plastic spoons we used before.

 Introducing Jelly Bean Stew song to the twins and reinforcing it for the Older one.

Love these big egg cartons. 

I thought we would use them for walking on but they worked great to practice transferring skills.

 She walks so much more confidently in just one month than the last time we used the spoons.

I added baskets for them to fill and carry.

Jelly Bean Stew

 Jelly beans, one of my favourite candies, was a focus this past week.

I brought a pot full of plastic shaped jelly beans for the little one to play with.

Mmmm making stew for two.

Practicing our colours as we sing.

At the end of the week we tasted real jelly beans.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Blue sand, wooden monkeys and spoons.

Oh how lovely the sand feels.

The twins are learning to feed themselves with spoons so I thought this would be a good opportunity to practice.

I didn't think they would try to feed each other.

Lots of practice pinching the sand, lift it and put it in her cup.

Train Play

Trains for Opa and trains for the little ones.

Here is what Opa made.

Since we travel every week over to the mainland to care for the little ones, Opa decided to make a portable train layout to take with him.

This is his new N scale layout.
It fits the size of a kitchen table.

The lid of his model holds a wooden train set for the little ones.

It's perfect to lay on the floor.

There's lots of room for one child to play within the model.

Or for more than one.

The track is attached to the lid but the rest we add each time it is open.

Sometimes the little ones join Opa and watch his trains go around.

Sometimes Opa joins them on the floor to play with their wooden trains.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

We continued, this week, using the pasta and tubes.

 The tubes were stuck in a box at different angles.

 This week they knew what to do without any prompts.

Some of the pasta was still in the cans so I added them to the play.

She figured out how to turn the can over and shake the pasta out.

 As the play progressed they moved the box away from the tub and became more interested in the tubes.

They noticed that the tubes could slide in and out.

Each took a turn figuring out how to pull a tube out and the banging began.

New House Blocks

I was shopping on line looking for animal toys when I saw little wooden houses that I thought, 

"Hm, Raymond could make these and I could paint them".

 I also painted peg dolls to match the colour of the houses.

 Day 1 - I set the farm mat on the floor with the box holding the houses and dolls.

 They took their time pulling them out and exploring them.

 Once they set them down I placed them around the mat.

 Day 2 - I set the box in the middle of the floor.

I think the most fun, for them, is emptying the box.

 Once the box was empty I placed them in a circle with each peg doll in front.  By this time two of the peg dolls had gone missing.  Their mom eventually found them, a few days later, in their clothes hamper.

 They discovered that they can be knocked over with a bang.  Which the one standing loves because she is a thrower.

 I helped them stack the blocks but they discovered putting the dolls on top themselves.

 At clean up time I placed them all in a row under the tv stand so they were available to play with any time.

 That afternoon they explored a box of small blocks that were given to their mom.

They go well with our house blocks and peg dolls.
