We've used the warming tray to melt crayons before but today we did one step before that to decorate our paper eggs.
We used our tiny cheese graters to make tiny pieces of crayon.
Then set the crayon covered paper egg onto the tray and watched the crayon melt.
We also set chunks of the crayons on paper on to the warming tray. When they started melting we used wooden coffee stir sticks, tongue depressors and chop sticks to spread it around and make designs. Two handed method works well.
A fun and amazing way of using crayons! :)) You could also melt the crayon using a spoon and candle. Put a small piece of crayon on the spoon and melt it on the top of the candle. Then, put the melted crayon on the paper and let them blow it so that the melted crayon would spread. Hope this helps! God Bless! :))
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous! Love the results! Looks like they had a great time! Thanks for sharing! i will share this!!
ReplyDeleteAnne thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we used your spoon idea but set it on the warming tray if the crayons would melt. That away avoid using a candle and open flame (a little out of my comfort zone with the average age being 3).
We'll have to try it out.
Thanks
I love melted crayon art! I remember doing melty art in Kindergarten. I think, because people are so worried about kids getting hurt, that it's a lost art. I've been debating using my George Forman griddle to make something.
