Comparing Sizes with Our Big Buddies

Last week we got together with our big buddies to share a StoryWalk
and share a math activity.
We met in the gym and the StoryWalk was set up around on the walls.
Some children started their time together by reading the story
while others began measuring each other.
The big buddies had prepared a big pile of pumpkins, all the same size.
Then they took turns laying on the floor while the other buddy
placed enough pumpkins beside the person to measure
them from heel to tip of head.
Then they counted them.
After measuring each other they recorded their
lengths and names on pumpkins.

  1. Hi Maureen
That activity was really fun. My favorite part was when my buddy held my hand. The story walk was really fun my little buddy was jumping up and down when we were read the story. I'm pretty sure i was 12 or 13 pumpkins. My buddy was really interactive with this.
I hope you have a great day. http://brianaz12.edublogs.org

    1. Thanks for the comment Brianna. I noticed several buddies becoming more familiar and feeling comfortable holding hands as they walked around the gym.

  2. I'd love to hear a little bit more about how you introduce and use story walks. My preschool class has book buddies with a 4th grade class and I'm looking for more story-related activities for the students to do with each other.
