Funny Fish

We have new a book about counting and animals that the oldest one really likes.
The last page has 10 funny fish.
I noticed that the fish had heart shapes for the fins and lips.
It inspired this craft.
The little one has been drawing for sometime and really enjoys it.
Today I showed her, hand over hand, how to make a circle.
She picked up on it fairly quickly and we ended up with 6 fish, 4 of them were her circles.
She was excited to use the glue stick to attach the hearts.
Great focus and concentration.

Another Recycling Gift

Do you recognize this?
If you've been to a hospital lab and had blood tests you might recognize that it is the foam that the vials stand in.
Last time I was there, the last vial came out and she threw it in the garbage so I asked for it.
I thought it would be perfect to hold the Little One's crayons.
We showed her how to stand the crayons up in each hole.
Look how she moves and reaches and controls where she puts the crayons.
Lots of drawing has been happening.
The holes work well to help move it too.
Try it!

Signs of Spring

I invited families to bring in signs of spring.
We got little leaves starting to grow, forsythia, catkins, pussy willows,
and a rhododendron bud.
The children were invited to draw what they could see.
Markers and crayons were available in yellow, green and brown.
Then one family brought in a new plant,
azaleas.
We added pink markers and crayons.
A beautiful centre piece to attract all the artists in our room.
Even the youngest.
Happy Spring.
