What's in the Tub, Tuesday?

Silk flower pelts filled the tub and they loved them.
Did you hear the giggle of joy in the video?
I so enjoyed watching them scoop the petals, lift them in the air and let them drop.
Their delight was infectious.
Of course they ended up on the floor.
At first I tried to discourage it but thought why?
Now that they were on the floor it encouraged them to explore in a different way.
On all fours going under, in and around the table.
I also put little pink and red rubber ducks in the tub and it took them a little while to find them.
The twins figured out, several weeks ago, how to take the white tub out of the table.
They like standing up in it and walking around.

Funny Fish

We have new a book about counting and animals that the oldest one really likes.
The last page has 10 funny fish.
I noticed that the fish had heart shapes for the fins and lips.
It inspired this craft.
The little one has been drawing for sometime and really enjoys it.
Today I showed her, hand over hand, how to make a circle.
She picked up on it fairly quickly and we ended up with 6 fish, 4 of them were her circles.
She was excited to use the glue stick to attach the hearts.
Great focus and concentration.

Happy Valentines 2019

This year I had the joy of making Valentine cards with my grand daughters.
I decided to try finger-painting with them to make handprints.

I used instant chocolate pudding which I made with water instead of milk.
Each of the girls' response to the 'paint' was different.
The oldest went at it like a pro, since she has experienced finger-paint before.
This one was hesitant and not quite sure what she should do with it.
This one stuck her finger right in
and continued from there.
She was the only one of the three that tasted it too.
Before I cleaned them up (in the bath) I pressed their hands on a big paper heart.

What's in the Tub, Tuesday?

SNOW!!
It's been snowing here for a few days, which is really rare for February and the lower mainland.
Perfect opportunity to bring some inside to explore.
The twins haven't experienced snow yet and they were mesmerized.
The older cousin handed out some tools
and the play continued.
I loved watching their expressions when feeling the snow
and how capable they were at using the tools.
I showed them how to use the red scoop to make balls.
Then we built a snowman.
So much fun to bring snow inside.

Farm Play

The girls are interested in farm animals.
The twins are beginning to sign cow and say 'moo'.
I made a felt mat for the floor to encourage that language.
It was simple to make with just felt and a glue gun.
I did use blue drawer liner for the pond.
A problem that we encountered was that it's slippery.
When the twins crawled on top of it, it would scrunch up.
We laid a blanket underneath and it helped a bit.
Here are the cousins looking at a cow and the big cousin is signing it.
The barns are made from cardboard boxes that I painted then covered with modge podge so the paint wouldn't come off on their hands.
The animals I found at the dollar store.
They are from wooden inlay puzzles.
The twins soon flipped the boxes over and put the animals inside.
Then dumped them out and did it again.
The older one thought it made a great blanket.
