Gingerbread Felt Man

I just love finding a great piece at the Dollar store.
Here is a felt gingerbread man with felt pieces to decorate.
It would have cost me much more to buy the felt and make this myself.
All I added was magnet strips to the back of the body so it could hang on the fridge instead of using a felt board.
I'm always looking for things to use in the kitchen to keep her busy while I'm making dinner or cleaning up.

Here are a few of our ginger people:
She had to give the crying ginger kid a hug.
And of course we had to try moustaches on ourselves.

Gingerbread Peg Dolls

Happy Holidays!
The Little One and her parents have been going for walks in the evening checking out the lights.
My grand daughter loves it.
I decided to combine her interest in lights with a gingerbread theme play box.
I painted new peg dolls to look like gingerbread.
There is a mom, dad, sister and baby.
They are set up in a card board box that I have painted the inside.
Lights are hung from the ceiling of the box.
I also painted a wooden house with brown chalkboard paint.
She can use chalk to decorate it like a gingerbread house.
Even inside we drew some beds.
I added a couple of books and we've read them several times already.
I was a little slow getting a picture of her reading a book herself.
She was excited to show Dad when he got home from work.
The lights are poked through the top of the box and she is fascinated with them.
We've been retelling the story in different ways, drawing, video, oral.
It's one of my favourites.
I love catching moments like this when her parents get down and play with her.

The Return of the Gingerbread Cookies

Oh what a day!
Our Gingerbread Cookies were scheduled to arrive on the 10:30 flight
at the airport and we were there ready to meet them.
But the flight was delayed by over a half an hour
so we decided to head back to school.
Mr Wallace, who works for Westjet offered to meet the Cookies
and keep them company until we could return at noon.
They arrived safe and sound
looking a little tanned and dressed like maybe
they came from Hawaii.
Mr Wallace opened the suitcase for us so we could see what they had packed.

In the back of their case were their passports.
We were able to read all the places they had visited while they were away.
Best of all they brought us a treat, gingersnaps.
We had just a small group at noon.
I apologize to all the families that came earlier and missed out.
But the cookies are safely back at school waiting to see everyone tomorrow.

Gingerbread Creation Donation

Each year our StrongStart program creates a gingerbread creation with
our big buddies.
Then we donate it to a community fundraiser that raises money
for our local Boys & Girls Club.
The little buddies started in our classroom decorating the house
and the train.
Then we got together with our big buddies to make lots of trees
to fill out the board.
They worked together to coat an ice cream cone with green frosting
then decorated it with candy.
I wonder how many candy didn't make it on the tree?
Time to prep the board with lots of frosting
to secure the house, train, tracks
and all the trees.

Once it was altogether the buddies looked to find their tree.
I delivered it last weekend and then on Monday we went and toured
all the displays.
And look what we found on our creation...
a post card from our gingerbead cookies.
