What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Worms in dirt!
I'm surprised that we do not see many worms when we are out on our walks.
I think there are many more birds here, then at my home, to take care of them.
So I brought in some fake worms.
The littlest ones weren't too sure at first and dropped it.
Then proceeded to check it out, wiggle it and flip it around.
 Even trying to stretch it.
I made up a song while they wiggled their worms.
No worms were hurt during this play time.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Week 2 of our sticky wall and I added feathers to the tub.
The girls are becoming quite familiar with tub and are always eager to explore.
How do these things move if I pick them up and drop them.
That is Cs favourite thing to do with every tub.
They do eventually get around to sticking them to the wall.
Sometimes putting them and sometimes peeling them off.
That is one reason a sticky wall is great as it is always changing.
The girls started to explore the feathers a little closer.
Discovering how they feel.
That they tickle when rubbed on their nose or face.
They discovered that a feather is very light and they may not feel it on their head.
To finish our feather play off for the day we sang Two Little Dickie Birds.
What could we add to the sticky wall next week?
Any ideas?

More Plastic Egg Play

Today I brought out the plastic eggs again
because the twins parents had these flat cardboard boxes that are perfect as ramps.
Love watching their excitement and
figuring out what happens when she let's go of the egg.
Doesn't matter how high up they let go of the egg it will still roll down.
Our crawler found another way to play with the eggs.
Oh how they love to dump!

More What's Inside Eggs

The next toy I brought, to continue our discovery of eggs, is an egg full of animals.
Some come from eggs some don't.
She loved looking at each of the animals.
There is something about little toys that is attractive.
Our focus was to sort them.
Saying they come from eggs and they don't was difficult for her to differentiate so I started to say which comes from an egg and which comes from their momma.

Eggs! What's Inside of Them

The Little One is showing some interest in eggs so I dug out a few toys that I used at StrongStart.
Here is an 'incubator' filled with eggs.
Each egg has a creature that comes from an egg.
Two of the books we read before opening the eggs were Hatch and
Guess What is Growing Inside this Egg.
She did great opening the eggs and figuring out each creature.
We spent time building vocabulary around eggs, hatching, and all the animal names.
After all the eggs were emptied I brought out pictures of each creature for her to match.

Ramp Play

One day last week when the sensory tub was full of their loose toys, I decided to build a ramp.
A simple ramp using a box of diapers and a booster seat.
We started with using cars since they have wheels they go down easily.
Opa suggested there be something for the cars to land on so we tried a pillow first then changed it for the basket.
For the older little one this was also an opportunity to share and be the role model.
One of the twins was very curious and tried to participate.
This was a great moment of the older one offering her younger cousin a car.
After having lots of success with the cars I encouraged her to try other items from the loose toys.
Here is a great example of perservance.
"If at first you don't succeed, try try again."
This would be an easy and fun rainy day activity for you to try with your little ones.
