Bangles

Shopping at a thrift store I found a bag of metal bracelets.
They work great in an old wipe container.
So much fun to grab them and drop them on the floor.
They make a sound when they are dropped.
I tried to spin them too.
Then I showed them how to put them on their arms.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Wooden rings in a basket with mug and paper towel holders.
I purposefully brought three holders so each would have one.
I saw some cooperative play well not really but being able to use the same toy is big for these three cousins.
It's fairly easy for them to put the rings on to the post but getting them off is a challenge.  They did a lot of practicing figuring out how to use their hands and be successful.
I like these wooden rings for their feel, how they sound when tapped together and that they are easy for the little ones to pick up.
This metal paper towel holder was a hit as she learned how to swing it.
She is not aware of the space around her so I stayed close so no one would get hit with it.
Oh hi Nana, I'm in the tub today.

Funny Fish

We have new a book about counting and animals that the oldest one really likes.
The last page has 10 funny fish.
I noticed that the fish had heart shapes for the fins and lips.
It inspired this craft.
The little one has been drawing for sometime and really enjoys it.
Today I showed her, hand over hand, how to make a circle.
She picked up on it fairly quickly and we ended up with 6 fish, 4 of them were her circles.
She was excited to use the glue stick to attach the hearts.
Great focus and concentration.

What's the Tub Tuesday?

More instant mashed potatoes and water.
We started with feeling the dry potato flakes.
 Then added warm blue water.
Of course the one year old wants to taste eat while the two year old is enjoying the warmth.
The little one in the brown shirt was initially interested but after that didn't touch it at all.
This one continued trying to eat it, even off of my hand.
We have been singing Pat-a-cake a lot lately so it fit in well with this dough.
She had a great fine motor work out this morning.
I was surprised that more mashed potatoes didn't end up on the floor.
Probably because the twins weren't interested.

What's in the Tub Tuesday?

Dry instant mashed potatoes was in the tub this week.
The oldest grand daughter got to play with it first.
She watched as I poured it into the tub.
It looked like snow falling.
The the twins woke up and joined in the exploration.
Of course one or two of them had to taste it.
There was lots of pinching, grabbing and releasing.
Making it snow all over!
But having it fall on the floor gave them another experience, how does it feel on their feet?
Also gave them more exercise of getting up and down.
If they started to crawl and away I was busy sweeping up after them.
Overall it was a fun experience to do and watch.

Marble Painting with a Toddler

Here is our first time using marbles with the Little One for painting.
You may be familiar with marble painting but I'll take you through the steps.
Cut a sheet of paper to fit your tray, any shape and size of tray, although keep in mind your little one's capabilities.
Since she is under two I chose a small pan.
Pick a marble and dip it in paint.
Normally I would have little pots with paint and a spoon to scoop the marble out but I didn't have any  pots available.
Put your painted marble onto the paper
pick up the tray and try to roll the marble around.
She put several marbles in at one time and I showed her how to roll it back and forth as well as shaking the tray.
After each roll and shake she would dip the marble and put it back in.
I think her favourite part was dipping the marbles into the paint.
We ended up completing three sheets which I think will work great for a greeting card.
