Art Spinning

Spin art done with salad spinners is so much fun

and the children love to use them.

Moving the spinner down to the floor made it accessible 

to the younger artists.

Very exciting to be able to see what happens to the paint

when we make it spin.

Spin a Turkey Tail

            
I pulled out the lazy susan turntables this morning with the thought of squeezing paint onto paper circles to make turkey tail feathers.  But I got busy with other things and just put out markers, pencils and crayons.  They worked better than I thought.
      
In the past we have done this activity using paint and the children had difficulty adding the paint and spinning the turntables by themselves.
 
       With the markers, pencils and crayons they could manage it.
  
     Occasionally parents did help or worked together to create their art.

Spin Art Stars

One of our favourite crafts involves a salad spinner. Such a simple and inexpensive craft but with great results. Spinners, paint, star-shaped paper and today we added glitter.




With paper placed in the bottom of the salad spinner, dribble paint all around.








Make sure the lid is on tight.
(And if you are going to buy a salad spinner be sure it doesn't have holes in the bottom.)









Then turn the knob around and around, the faster you spin it the more spread out the paint will go.








Open the lid to check out the results.

Busy craft table

The past couple of days have been quite busy. Especially at the craft table.



We've done apple sun catchers with leftover laminate film and tissue paper.


We also did spin art using a salad spinner. We've done this many times before and I've seen it written it several blogs. It's a very popular craft. Children love to turn and turn the handle. The parents like the effect and the fact that their child can do it at school versus at home.




And to continue on our Harvest Garden we put together bird houses and painted them.
